NETGEAR ProSafe FS116P 16 Port 10/100 Desktop Switch with 8 Port PoE - Switch -

The ProSafe FS116P provides power and data from a single point, using Power over Ethernet (PoE) over a single Cat-5 cable. The sixteen Fast Ethernet ports can be used for any 10/100 Mbps link and eight of these ports can supply industry-standard IEEE 802.3af power. Advanced auto-sensing algorithm gives power only to 802.3af end devices, so no need to worry about damaging proprietary PoE or non-PoE equipment. In addition, it discontinues the power when PoE devices are disconnected. Easy and reliable, the ProSafe FS116P automatically determines PoE requirements, speed, duplex, and cable type using AutoUplink. The affordably priced ProSafe FS116P delivers PoE to any small business network that wants to simplify the installation of wireless access points and IP-based surveillance cameras. These devices are optimally installed on a ceiling or high on a wall, away from most electrical outlets. PoE eliminates the requirement for a dedicated electrical outlet to power these devices. This allows for flexibility in situating devices where AC power is difficult to access and lowers installation costs. Compact and flexible, the ProSafe FS116P is ideal for small business network that want to inexpensively use PoE to deploy wireless access points and IP-based network surveillance cameras. Choose to plug in up to eight Ethernet or Fast Ethernet devices and mix in up to four 802.3af IP-based devices like wireless access points or IP-based network surveillance cameras. Place these 802.3af-compliant devices where they belong - high up on walls and ceiling for maximum coverage - or anywhere else you need them. Power and data are carried over standard Cat-5 cabling. The standards-based ProSafe FS116P senses and adjusts for network speed and cabling type automatically, for easy integration into your existing 10/100 Ethernet network. For PoE, the switch automatically detects 802.3af-compliant devices, and supplies power as needed. Front panel LEDs keep you informed of switch and PoE status. Engineered for compact convenience, it is only 1-inch high and 4-inches deep, with a durable metal case that is easily positioned on your desktop or a wall, using the included mounting hardware. The fan-less design quietly integrates in your small office environment. With data switching and Power over Ethernet integrated into one unit, the FS116P saves space, reduces cables and eliminates the requirement for dedicated electrical outlets - lowering installation costs, simplifying installation of PoE-capable devices, and eliminating the need for electricians or extension cords. All in all a great benefit for a modest price.

Computer Home Jobs Increase By The Dozens

With gas prices peeking over the summer, is your job worth driving to? If you could work at home and make the same money, or even have the potential to make more money, would you do it?

With the Internet readily available to most of us, what is stopping us from looking for work-at-home computer jobs? Think about this: Almost every time that you find a good deal on eBay, it is being sold by a private company or an individual working out of their home.

The market for work-at-home computer jobs is growing everyday and is only hindered by the imagination of the person who is doing the work. With a $400.00 desktop computer and the most basic of computer skills you can open your own business or find work-at-home computer jobs that pay just like regular work, and sometimes even more. Most of these jobs can be full time or part time.

It does not matter if you are looking to work for yourself or if you want to work for someone else, there are companies waiting to help you fulfill your dreams. Finding work-at-home computer jobs is a choice that people two generations ago did not have. Over the last 20 years or so, with the development and improvement of the home computer, many companies have found that departments that are not revenue producing, like human resources, can be outsourced for less than the company is able to staff the department with its own employees.

Jobs like data entry are also easily contracted outside of the company, thanks in part to the home computer and its enterprising owners. Today, working from your home computer, you are able to keep the accounts of companies that are not even in your home town, you can program computers or repair software without even having to touch the computer, and all of this opens the door for work-at-home computer jobs.

But what if clerical work is not what you do? What about those of us who have the most basic computer knowledge but still would like to work at home, what else is there? Well, as mentioned before, you could sell items on eBay or sites like it. There are many books and other reference materials to guide you through the selling process. They cover everything from setting up your account to how to market items you have for sale. All of this is done at your convenience and in your own home using your home computer.

Are you are a person who is interested in crafts, or are you mechanically inclined and like to work with your hands? There are jobs available through your computer that allow you to work at home assembling items for companies. You can get work assembling or creating jewelry for other companies and be paid by the piece. Working for a piece rate allows you to make as much or as little as you want.

There is always the envelope stuffing jobs that most people these days know about. This is where you fill or stuff envelopes of companies with sale flyers or whatever offers they have and wish to mass market.

No matter what work-at-home computer job you chose to accept or how you go about working from your home using your computer, there is one thing that must be remembered. You must make the time to work. While work-at-home computer jobs may sound easy, or may sound like the perfect job, you must be able to have enough quiet time to do quality work. It does not matter if you are stuffing envelopes or balancing the books for a major company, if you write the wrong address or forget to carry the 2, you will soon be finding yourself without work.

Also, take the time to research the companies that you will be working for. Before you send monies for materials or clients, make sure that you are in full understanding of what is required of you and what you are to be looking forward to.

The home computer has revolutionized the work place. It has made it possible for people like yourself to have a work-at-home computer job and earn a good living, all from the comfort of your own home. Take full advantage of this growing market and remember that the only limits to your earning potential are your drive and imagination.

Information Net Source Corp. has been helping people find the perfect work at home jobs, businesses and opportunities for the last 9 years. Choosing a Custom Computer Case is not an easy task . . .

Let's face it; the first thing you notice about a Custom Computer Case is its appearance. Since the computer case is highly visible and usually reflects on the owners tastes and personality, it becomes quite a personal choice as to which one to get. The computer case is not really an accessory -- it is an integral part of the computer so its important to choose a Custom Computer Case that offers both excellent workmanship and reliability as well as great
design and eye catching looks. Here are a few things to keep in mind when your out shopping for that perfect tower.

A good custom computer case is important for a high-performance PC.

A computer case is likely to outlast just about any other component in your system so it's very important that you invest your money accordingly.

Do a little research on the manufacturer, read reviews on their products

And top of my list, make sure that the tower you choose has the ability to house a large selection of Mainboard and Power Supply combinations.

ThermalTake, Lian Li, Antec who's the Best?. . .

I have only listed 3 manufacturers of high quality custom computer cases, there are many many more out there but lets start with these three. Antec has developed a significant reputation as one of the pioneers in the computer case market. The Antec Company won not only the Best Computer Case Maker title but also the Best PSU Maker award.Thermaltake cases are popular among computer enthusiasts and gamers. Some of the cases include Xaser, Tsunami, Viking, LanFire, and Armour. All the cases are marketed as being created with cooling requirements in mind and are easily adapted to liquid cooling. Thermaltake also markets power supplies. Lian Li are one of the largest and most reputable manufacturers of aluminum PC case on the market today and are fast becoming computer modders tower of
choice when looking to do extreme mods..

Remember this, your custom computer case is only limited by your own imagination....happy hunting

Internet Safety- How Safe Is Your Computer From Spyware And Adware

Many of us are familiar with internet usage, but how many of us really know and understand the possible dangers that can invade and destroy our computers and pose dangers to our lives. I think it?s important for every internet user and computer owner to be aware of what adware and spyware are and understand the difference. Once you are equipped with all the information you can make decision on how to protect your computer. These malicious softwares are a growing concern for every internet user. They invade your privacy and are bad with PC connected to internet.

Adware is software given to the user with advertisements already embedded in the application. It can also be an alternative given to consumers who do not wish to pay for software. These come as programs, games and designed and distributed as freeware. It can come as pop up ads to get people to buy. It is reported not to be malicious as it doesn?t track your habits or provide information about you or third party. It simply serves random ads within program. The main purpose is revenue source for companies who offer free software to users.

But be aware that not every adware program should be considered safe; some programs which contain adware do track your surfing habits and pass personal information for advertisements to other users. It is at this point the adware is called a spyware .This is the most malicious software and everyone should always be protected for privacy and security purposes. This software is dangerous as the user install it without knowing and thinking they are installing something else .It is mainly common among downloads of certain peer to peer file swapping programs available nowadays.

It is advisable to be careful because spyware works similar like adware but you just never know when you install it. Once it crawls through your computer it monitors all your activities on internet and transmits information to other sources without your knowledge or permission. It gathers all personal information like credit cards numbers, personal files, passwords, email addresses. Spyware can take total control of your PC, it can monitor keystrokes, scan files on hard drive and reinstall them and add other programs that you never asked for.

People who develop this malicious killers to use the information collected for advertising and to sell to competitors. Beware of these dangers, be on the lookout at all times and be armed to protect your internet. If you suspect you might be a victim, invest in adware removal and anti-spyware program to prevent future problems. Be extra careful which anti-spyware you invest in, some of them promise too much and don?t deliver as they say.
Watch out for fake software programs, some of those too good to be true anti-spyware only add more trouble to your problems, get the one that will delete spyware for good. Investigate the company and find out if there is anyone to help if you have problems with their software. Always read company licensing agreements before buying, sometimes they warn users against possibility of carrying spyware, but we tend to ignore that important part.

People all over the world depend so much on what internet can do for them; it has changed so many people?s lives both positive and negative. Internet has become the core of businesses to many and therefore there will be other people out there who are out to destroy everyone. It is even more frustrating when you think of who else uses internet, ?Children?. Imagine having all those spyware crawling on your internet showing pop up adult material advertisements. That is scary. Protect your computer, business, family and your personal life; consider investing in good anti-spyware software.

Two Dads: One computer-maniac, the other computer-phobic.

I have two Dads. That sounds strange doesn't it? One is my genetic father, and the other is my geneticist father. The genetic Dad I've only ever lived with for one year when I was an infant, while the geneticist Dad is what you would call a step-father, but I've lived in close proximity with him for more than 20 years. I feel close to them both. I connect differently with each of them but on a pretty much equal level. The reason I'm sharing my personal information with you is because I've just had a realisation about my fathers in relation to the area that I work in: computers and the Internet. It's really quite interesting.

One father is a computer maniac. Whenever a new technology, software, gadget, or website emerges he is one of the first to grab it up and evaluate it. My other father has an old piece-of-crap box that looks something like a computer, with a tediously slow dial-up connection to the World Wide Web. Compared to the wireless, broadband Mac personal computer and mobile-connected Mac laptop of the enthusiast, they couldn't be from further parts of the galaxy.

Then there's me. I could be construed as being a walking paradox, an enigma, or just plainly twisted when it comes to my relationship with the computer and Internet sphere of life. Nature/nurture, genetic/environmental...For whatever strange reason, I have turned out to be a combination of the two papas. I work as a creative writer for an Internet web-hosting company. I love the ideas and valuable functions and tools that the Internet has brought to humanity (or was it humanity that brought it to the Internet?). However, I have issues and challenges when it comes to using these awe-inspiring machines.

Currently I am away from home in a different city visiting my girlfriend. At home (I am currently living with my parents-Mother and geneticist, as I'm going to live overseas soon) all I have to do to get on the Internet is open up my laptop and I'm on-line. If I'm at work, I go to my PC and all of my settings are stored and ready for me to use. While in a new place, things haven't been running as smoothly as I would've liked. The answers are probably simple and easy to do, but this is one of the kinds of challenges that cause me to stumble. Although I am deeply interested and have a true faith in this new technology, I am a real novice when it comes to getting things done on someone else's computer.

I brought my laptop with me. My girlfriend only has a dial-up connection which she uses with her laptop. I could use hers' but she's Chinese so a lot of what comes up on the screen is illegible to me. I don't know how to change her language configuration. I'm used to doing it quite easily on my Mac, but her computer is a PC and I'm not as practiced in this other format. That's one of my problems. I only have so much patience when it comes to working these technological issues out; it could be a trait passed on by my ice-age father (No judgement is being laid here. He just doesn't feel that he can work new technologies out. He's had a digital telephone answering machine for two years which he still hasn't set up. He feels bad about it but his manual one does the job, so he sticks with it.). I'm also a little afraid to hook my laptop up to her dial-up line as I know from experience that I'll have to change some settings of which I am not confident about doing.

So the next answer was to go to her university where she said people use their laptops wirelessly in the library. That sounded cool so I went in and tried it out. I even tried changing the settings to get it to work (It took courage.) but I couldn't get it to work. I was weary about asking for help because I wasn't really a student at that particular learning establishment. Instead, I've been using the library's computers. This is OK, but since I can't walk away with the files I create (I borrowed my girlfriend's thumb-drive but an experience from the past of not being able to transfer information from PC to Mac deters me from using it-again, an irrational fear. I know it, and I will give it a try this week. I've resorted to saving my files in my email account as attachments. It's not conventional, but it works.

Another issue I've had is getting onto my messenger service. The university computers don't have it on their desktop, and when I tried to download an on-line version I was told that I didn't have the authority to do so. I went to an Internet caf?, and I could do work there (I'm working on the road) but I feel kind of silly paying to get paid. It was cool there though as they had messenger with voice and video and I was able to have a conversation with my brother who is travelling around India. He could see my sister and me, but we couldn't see him as he said the Indian computer devices (webcams, headsets) in that town were looking a little bit crappy in design and also looked worse for wear. It was heaps of fun making funny faces knowing that he would be seeing us. I think he's getting lonely as he's only 19 years old and has been away from home for over 7 months.

As you can see I've inherited beliefs about computer from both of my Dads. I find things more difficult than most, I believe, but I'm not going to give up doing my best to get the things done that I feel are necessary. Over time I hope to get over these little obstacles and hurdles and become proficient in all of the cool aspects of this new realm of human endeavour. I also have faith that the technicians and engineers are probably working hard to make things simple for the rest of us.

Whatever happens, I'm going to stick with it, and when I go to see my genetic father next I'm going to do my best to inspire him to buy a new computer with a Broadband connection. Then all I have to do is show him a few of the amazing things that this human created Internet tool can do. One of the aspects of the Web that affects me most profoundly is the simple fact that if you think of anything at all in the known Universe, you can then look it up on your search engine like Google and in the time it takes to blink your eye, immediately start to learn. It sure beats catching the train to the library, looking up a book in the card catalogue, searching for it, then finding out that someone else has borrowed it and is late bringing it back.

High Definition Mania

Mon, 29 Sep 2008 13:52:40 -0700
I’m currently very obsessed with high definition content. Watching those movie trailers in High Def. form give a strong intent of buying a projector for home theatre . I’ve came across an article on CNet about the difference between HD DVD and Blu-Ray format. It seems that these two rivals has been competing in the market for quite some times. Based on the current market view, Blu-Ray seems to be more successful than HD DVD and it is reported also that HD DVD will step down as Toshiba, the mai

Intellectual Property Law - Copyright Law - Copyright Infringement - Computer Software

The case of Point Solutions Ltd v Focus Business Solutions Ltd and Another [2007], which was heard in the Court of Appeal, involved a claimant who carried on business as a provider of computer software services, and in particular software for the creation and use of electronic application forms for provision to the financial services sector.

At the material time the defendants had for a number of years been the dominant supplier in that market. In April 2001, the claimant and the defendants entered into an outsourcing agreement under which the claimant carried out work for the defendants, work which included a review of a module in the defendants? Goal software. In order to carry out that work, the claimant was provided with three modules of the defendant?s Goal software.

In the course of its business the claimant supplied a product known as Acuo Software, a product which had been developed over a period between 2 July 2001 and August 2002. The development of Acuo Software was in response to an approach from CMI, a well known pension provider.

In October 2001, the outsourcing agreement between the claimant and the defendants came to an end. Apparently, the defendants had learned that the claimant had been awarded the CMI contract, for which the defendants had made an unsuccessful bid, and that the claimant intended to bid for a different contract with H (the parent company of CMI) in direct competition with the defendants.

The defendants asked for the return of the three modules of Goal software. The claimant claimed to have complied with this request. In October 2002, the defendants wrote to the claimant to:

?Seek confirmation of the provenance of the software you have developed in order to compete with [the defendants]?

The defendants also sought confirmation that the claimant had not undertaken any copying of the defendants' Goal software or solutions. The claimant replied, confirming that it had not copied the defendants' software, and offered to make voluntary disclosure (to a mutually agreeable third party) of material that would confirm that there had been no copyright infringement.

The parties agreed to the identity of the experts to be instructed, and terms of reference on the basis of which they should be asked to act. However, the matter did not progress. Eventually, in December 2004, the claimant commenced proceedings seeking a declaration of non-infringement of copyright. It was directed that an expert's report be obtained, however the parties failed to comply with that direction. The judge refused to grant the relief sought, saying that she had been asked to make a declaration that software, which she had not yet seen, did not infringe any copyright in another software product which she had also not yet seen. She went on to hold that copyright had not yet been demonstrated with regard to such software.

The claimant appealed. It submitted on appeal:

- That the judge was wrong to find that the claimant had failed to establish on the balance of probabilities that it did not copy the defendant's source code in creating the Acuo Software;

- That the judge had erred in finding that there was no utility in making a declaration even if there had been no copying; and

- That her finding that she would have exercised her discretion against granting a declaration even if she had found in its favour on the issue of non-infringement was perverse.

The appeal would be dismissed.

The claimant had not shown that the judge was wrong in finding that it had failed to establish on the balance of probabilities that it had not copied the defendants' source code in creating the Acuo Software. Therefore, the other two grounds did not arise.

It is interesting to note that a judge should be slow to allow proceedings of this nature to be brought to trial in circumstances where the parties have chosen (for tactical and forensic reasons) to disregard directions already given for the provision of the expert assistance needed if the court is to decide the real question in dispute.

Keep Your Computer Healthy By Repairing Windows Registry

Windows Registry is a database used by Windows operating system to store hardware and software configuration information. Computer problems are often caused by invalid key entries in the registry. Anyone with Administrator privileges can edit the Registry by using the registry editor (regedit.exe) that comes with the Windows operating system. However, great attention must be given to registry editing or repair because changing registry keys could disable the computer in the worst scenario. The registry editor is a GUI-based tool for managing the registry. When you type ?regedit? in the ?Run? dialog box and click ?OK?, the system will present a registry view similar to the Windows Explorer view of the file system. In general, the registry consists of 5 Root Keys that contains file associations, all preferences set for current user, settings for hardware, operating system, and installed applications, to name just a few.

Now you see how important the registry is to your computer. Maintaining the registry and stabilizing its growth can greatly increase the life expectancy of your Windows system. With this being said, it is a daunting task to repair registry because there are so many complex registry entries stored in your system. Most experienced technicians tend to stay away from the registry unless there are no other options to resolving a computer problem except editing registry keys.

In view of this, there are many third-party registry cleaner utilities that are dedicated to scanning and repairing the registry. By default, registry cleaner scans the registry for all types of errors. It also allows users to customize settings and scan for particular types of registry errors, like shared DLL errors, missing fonts, and invalid startup entries.

Besides finding incorrect or obsolete information in the registry, most registry cleaner utilities provide backup or restore function, allowing users to backup the whole Windows Registry so that they can use the backup to restore the registry to the current status in case they encounter serious system failure. Some of registry cleaner utilities even have the startup organizer feature that lets users disable unwanted startup programs and manage IE settings with ease.

Moreover, registry cleaner software is able to remove harmful viruses, adware, spyware, and Trojans because these intrusive programs tend to attack PC by creating and modifying registry keys. Web Animation: A New Era In Computer

At a basic level animation can be thought of as a flicker of life in objects. For example a flying bird is an "animate" object while a glass vase is an "inanimate" object. In real life inanimate objects move because of external forces, but in the virtual world, technology and imagination work together to create movement. Animation has become popular because real life has movement and the human eye is naturally attracted to movement.
Over the last 100 years animation has developed into a huge industry. Computer animation has advanced rapidly, and is now approaching the point where movies can be created with characters so lifelike as to be hard to distinguish from real actors. This involved a move from 2D to 3D, the difference being that in 2D animation the effect of perspective is created artistically, but in 3D objects are modeled in an internal 3D representation within the computer, and are then 'lit' and 'shot' from chosen angles, just as in real life, before being 'rendered' to a 2D bitmapped frame. There were predictions that famous dead actors might even be brought back to life to play in new movies.
Animations can be used in various ways on a web page such as making a log presentation more interesting by activating charts that dynamically show changes over time. Again animated games are very popular on the Web, especially 3D games. Animation attracts the attention as it is dynamic. For example animated buttons on a web page attract more attention than the static buttons.
When we speak of types of animations, the simplest type is an animated GIF. Animated GIFs are popular because they are easy to create and don't require special software for viewing. Another type is the animated text where the text changes color, blinks, or even explodes like a firework. Rollover effects changes the state of an object when the mouse cursor is moved over the object.
Flash is widely used to create animations for the Web because Flash animations are usually small in size and most Web users have the Flash player installed in their web browsers. In the future the animations on the Web will be more interactive and 3D animations will be widely used. Web animations will be used widely for education and entertainment. The gaming industry will increase its presence on the Web and support 3D and interactive animations. Animations that use simulations will be used for training and education. A lot of focus will be on multi user interactions and 3D animations and on making the Web more and more interactive.
